What they are
Fragments of purified DNA, most commonly salmon-derived, injected intradermally. They act as a scaffold and signalling agent for fibroblast activity.
What the evidence supports
Improved skin quality, hydration and elasticity over a three-treatment course. Some structural improvement at the infraorbital and perioral regions. Cumulative effect over six to twelve months.
What the evidence does not support
Volumising. Lifting. Replacement of filler at depth. Marketing in those directions misrepresents the molecule.
Who we treat with polynucleotides
Patients in their thirties and forties as a maintenance protocol. Patients post-resurfacing as a recovery accelerator. Patients in their fifties and sixties as one component of a multi-modal plan, not as a standalone.
